Safer Return To Play - Match Day Protocol
Grassroots Referees 02/07/2020

Referees are an integral part of football and we must ensure that we are well prepared prior to our return to play. This ‘Safer Return To Play - Match Day Protocol’ provides guidance and direction to match officials on how to manage the administration and the refereeing of games. The ‘Laws of the Game’ provide referees with all the necessary authority to deal with all on-field issues, whilst other matters should be reported to the leagues who run the competitions.

The primary aim of this protocol is to minimise risk of transmission of the COVID-19 virus to as low a level as possible. The principles of risk mitigation are identical for training and for refereeing. To view and download the full pdf document, please Click Here

Firstly, can we start by putting on record our admiration and appreciation of the tremendous work being done by all our members on the front line

Dear Club Secretaries

Firstly, can we start by putting on record our admiration and appreciation of the tremendous work being done by all our members on the front line, across all the daily services, ensuring our safety and some sense of normality in challenging times. To all the clubs who have done trojan work in raising funds for a variety of different charities, excellent work. Sadly, more than 1500 people have died due to the virus and if your club has been touched by this, can we offer our sympathy and condolences to all concerned.

Coronavirus - COVID-19
12th March 2020

The Board of Directors have decided to cancel all football activity within the DDSL with immediate effect until further notice, following on from the statement of the Taoiseach today in closing schools.

"The health and safety of those involved within the clubs of the league is paramount in making this decision."

We would ask all our stakeholders to follow suit within their own clubs.

We will review this decision on an ongoing basis and be guided by the Government and the HSE

The passing of Andy Wardick

The league would like to offer our deepest sympathy to the family of Andy Wardick on his sad passing last night.

Andy was a long time servant of the DDSL as a referee, and a life long friend to so many in the refereeing family. He was out in all weathers over that time - ensuring young players games were played, he will be sadly missed by all his colleagues & friends within schoolboys football.

May He Rest in Peace
