DDSL ‘Football for All’ Divisions starts in March 2022

The new DDSL ‘Football for All’ Divisions will begin officially in March 2022. It had hoped that these Divisions would have begun last year but as a result of Covid Restrictions, it is only now possible for us to organise the Divisions & the new teams.

We are delighted to confirm that there are now new DDSL Clubs who have already set up or are now in the process of setting up a new Football for All Team within their club. These clubs include Castleknock Celtic; Granada Fc; Finglas United; Beechwood Fc; Swords Celtic; Glasnevin Fc, St John Bosco & Home Farm. More clubs are looking to participate.

However , with Martin Mates Lourdes Celtic & Mick Kennedy Knocklyon United…..friendlies have already been organised with Lourdes Cel; Knocklyon United; & Swords Celtic. There will continue to be a lot more friendlies organised between now & March 2022 now that many of the DDSL ‘Football for All’ teams are back training.

The format for the new Division will be very flexible & we will look for feedback from all coaches & parents after a month or so. This will allow us to ensure we cater for all the players in Football for All.

Initially, the Divisions will begin with age groups U6 to U9; U10 to U13; U14 to U17;……but the ‘Age Groupings’ are only provisional until we see what works in practise i.e. Ability/Size etc. There will also be a ‘Mixed Division’ where Football for All players …who are very young or need help from their parents/siblings etc will get to participate in another new Division.

There are already a number of ‘Football for All’ clubs in existence e.g. Lourdes Celtic more than 15 years & with the experience of Martin Mates Lourdes Celtic…..we will ensure these new Football for All Divisions will grow strongly over the years.

DDSL will also be organising ‘Mixed Mini World Cup Tournaments’ where ‘Football for All’ players will get to play in a competitive environment with their siblings or players from their club. Already two World Cup Tournaments took place before Covid i.e. Knocklyon United & Tallaght Town & they were a huge success…. with players/parents/coaches eager to play in more of these Tournaments. Once permitted details of the further Tournaments will be announced.

The DDSL Sub-Committee looking after the new development for Football for All will be Mick Kennedy; Peter Fullerton; Gerry Riordan & Martin Mates.

If any DDSL Clubs are interested in setting up a ‘Football for All’ team within your club or wish to participate in friendlies & the new Divisions next year, please contact Mick Kennedy at or contact Mick at 086-2669311.

Once your Football for All club is up & running…the enjoyment & satisfaction in making a huge difference to the players lives …is immense.
