Small Sided Game Rules

The Laws of the games will apply with the following exceptions:

1. Field of Play

• The field of play shall be rectangular, 70 yards long by 50 yards wide (64 metres by 45 metres).
• A centre spot.
• A penalty box 12 yards long by 30 yards wide.
• A penalty spot 10 yards from the goal line.

2. The Goal

A goal 6 feet high by 16 feet wide is recommended as the appropriate size for children.

3. The ball

Size 3 ball for U7 and U8 - Size 4 ball to be used for U9 and U10

4. Number of Players

• U7, U8 and U9 - Each team will consist of 10 players. (Seven players to be on the field of play at one time). U10 - Each team will consist of 12 players (Nine players to be on the field of play at one time).
• Players may go on and off in a tag situation.
• All players must play.

5. Duration of game

U7, U8, U9 shall play 2 by 20 minutes. Five minutes break at half time. U10 shall play 2 by 25 minutes. Five minutes break at half time.

6. Offside Rule

There is no offside rule.

7. Free kicks

The opposition shall stand 6 yards away for a free kick.

8. Goal kicks

Goal kicks are taken from anywhere inside the penalty box.
